A POTENTIAL NORTHWEST FLOW SNOW EVENT IS LOOKING INCREASINGLY LIKELY TO TAKE PLACE ACROSS THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF NORTHEAST TENNESSEE AND SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA LATE NEXT WEEK. CURRENT MODEL TRENDS SUGGEST THE ONSET OF THE WINTRY PRECIP BEGINNING THURSDAY EVENING CONTINUING THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING. A FEW SNOW SHOWERS OR A RAIN/SNOW MIX IS ALSO POSSIBLE IN THE NORTHERN VALLEY AND TRI-CITIES REGION PROPER, THOUGH ACCUMULATIONS ARE NOT EXPECTED HERE. LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO AN INCH ARE POSSIBLE ABOVE 2000FT, AND 1-2” POSSIBLE ABOVE 3000FT. GUSTY NORTHWESTERLY WINDS ARE ALSO EXPECTED DURING THIS TIME WITH GUSTS REACHING 45 MPH AT TIMES.
